Join Florida Voices For Choices and thousands of advocates from around the state for the Gardiner Celebration Rally on January 21, 2020. This event is to celebrate the Gardiner Scholarship and to ask lawmakers to increase funding for the program so over 3,000 families who could benefit from the scholarship can get off the waiting list. Q: What is the Gardiner Celebration Rally?

A: It’s a time to thank our lawmakers for supporting our children with special needs through this scholarship and asking for more funding so more children can benefit from the Gardiner Scholarship. We need $42 million dollars more to add 4,000 Florida students who are waiting to join the program.

Q: When is the rally?

A: Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2020

Q: At what time?

A: Noon until 1:30 p.m.

Q: Where is it being held?

A: Waller Park, in front of the Florida State Capitol facing Duval Street and the Florida Supreme Court Building in Tallahassee, Florida. The dolphin fountains are the park’s centerpiece.

Q: How many people are expected to attend?

A: Our goal is to have 2,000 Gardiner Scholarship supporters in attendance.

Q: Who is invited?

A: All Gardiner supporters, especially families waitlisted, current and past, scholarship families, educators, student providers, lawmakers, community supporters and more.

Q: How will participants travel to Tallahassee?

A: Florida Voice For Choices is offering free roundtrip charter bus service to Tallahassee with advance registration on a first-come, first-served basis. Please note, the bus trip does not spend the night in Tallahassee. Drop off is shortly before the event, and departure will be shortly at the conclusion of the rally.

Q: What can participants expect?

A: A celebration of this life-changing scholarship program for children with certain special needs in Florida. Several speakers will talk about why they need the scholarship program and how more funding will move thousands off the waiting list.

Q: Where will the five bus stops be located to travel to Tallahassee?

A: Pensacola, Jacksonville, Orlando, Tampa and Miami.

Q: How do I register for the bus ride?

A: Visit our website at www.sufs.org/gardiner-rally

Q: Are the buses wheelchair accessible?

A: Yes, and there is wheelchair storage.

Q: Are there bathrooms on the buses.

A: Yes.

Q: Will food be provided on the bus?

A: General snacks and water will be available on the ride up and everyone will get a lunchbox with sandwich, chips, fruit and water for the ride home. If you have specific dietary needs, please bring your own snacks, drinks and food.

Q: Once in Tallahassee, may I leave items on the bus?

A: You may leave items on the bus at your own risk. The buses will be locked when unattended. Please note: organizers and bus service providers are not responsible for lost or stolen items.

Q: Where will participants be dropped off in Tallahassee?

A: Bus drivers have been instructed to drop off riders in front of the rally site.

Q: Is Waller Park wheelchair accessible?

A: Yes, there are ramps on both sides.

Q: When the rally is over, where will I find my bus?

A: Return buses will pick up relatively in the same area riders were dropped off near the rally site.

Q: Can I drive myself?

A: Yes, participants are welcome to drive to Tallahassee at their own expense.

If I provide my own transportation to the rally, where do I park?

A: Free parking will be available at the Donald L. Tucker Civic Center, 505 West Pensacola St., Tallahassee, FL 32301, and as an alternative to walking to the Capitol, we are looking into shuttles to transport drivers. Participants can also use self-pay parking at the Kleman Plaza Parking Garage, 306 S. Duval, St., Tallahassee, FL 32301, or any other public parking facility.

Q: If I drive myself is there a discount at any local hotels for rally participants?

A: Discounted hotel rooms for those providing their own transportation are available first-come, first-served at Baymont by Wyndham, 2850 Apalachee Parkway, Tallahassee, FL 32301. Q. Who is paying for this rally?

A. It is privately funded.

Q: Will lunch be provided by Florida Voices For Choices?

A: Yes, registered participants will receive a free boxed lunch as they leave the rally in Tallahassee. Boxed sandwiches will be available to participants as they leave the rally. Vegetarian options will be available. If participants require vegan, Halal, Kosher, gluten-free, etc. they must get in touch with us and order at least two weeks ahead of time so we can provide those options as well. Q: Are there restrooms at the rally site?

A: Yes, there will be regular restrooms and wheelchair-accessible restrooms on site.

Q: Will there be security on site?

A: Yes, Florida Voices for Choices is hiring security services for the event.

Q: Can we make posters for the event?

Q: Is it OK to share the event on social media leading up to it and day of?

A: Yes, but we ask to follow our social media guidelines here (click here).

Q: What should I wear to the rally?

A: Comfortable clothes and layers. It can be very cold in Tallahassee, please bring jackets, gloves, hats, scarves. Wear comfortable clothes and don’t forget your sunglasses and sunscreen. We will also be handing out rally T-shirts for you to wear.
